KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Integration Design & Development
  • Design and build Workato recipes integrating enterprise apps (SAP, Salesforce, Dynamics 365, ServiceNow, Shopify, and custom APIs)
  • Develop end-to-end integration patterns: point-to-point, hub-and-spoke, publish-subscribe, and event-driven architectures
  • Translate business process flows into maintainable Workato recipes with proper error handling and retry logic
  • Build custom connectors using Workato's Connector SDK where off-the-shelf connectors are insufficient

2. API & Middleware Management
  • Design and expose REST/SOAP API endpoints via Workato's API Platform for internal and partner consumption
  • Implement API authentication patterns: OAuth 2.0, API key, JWT, and Basic Auth
  • Manage API versioning, rate limiting, and throttling policies to protect downstream systems

3. Data Transformation & Orchestration
  • Write complex data transformations using Workato's formula language, Ruby snippets, and JSON/XML manipulation
  • Orchestrate multi-step workflows with conditional branching, loops, lookups, and parallel execution
  • Ensure data integrity across integrations — handle deduplication, upsert logic, and conflict resolution
  • Implement real-time and batch integration patterns based on business latency requirements

4. Monitoring, Reliability & Support
  • Set up job monitoring, alerts, and dashboards to proactively detect integration failures
  • Define and meet SLAs for integration uptime and data freshness across critical business flows
  • Perform root-cause analysis on failed jobs and communicate resolution timelines to stakeholders
  • Maintain integration runbooks and support on-call rotation for production incidents

5. Governance & Best Practices
  • Maintain integration documentation: data flow diagrams, recipe inventories, and change logs
  • Enforce naming conventions, recipe folder structures, and environment promotion standards (Dev → QA → Prod)
  • Conduct peer recipe reviews and ensure alignment with integration best practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Core Workato Experience (Must Have)
  • 3–6 years of hands-on Workato development with recipes in production environments
  • Deep proficiency in recipe design, job concurrency, callable recipes, and recipe lifecycle management
  • Experience with Workato's API Platform — building, securing, and publishing APIs
  • Hands-on use of Workato's Connector SDK (Ruby-based) for custom connectors
  • Workato Automation Pro I & II certified preferred; Pro III or Workato Certified Consultant is a strong plus

Integration & Architecture Skills
  • Strong understanding of enterprise integration patterns: messaging, routing, transformation, and orchestration
  • Experience integrating ERP systems (SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, Dynamics 365) and CRM platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot)
  • Proficiency with REST and SOAP APIs, Webhooks, EDI, and event-driven messaging (Kafka, SQS, or similar)
  • Experience with file-based integrations via SFTP/FTP, S3, and SharePoint

Technical Foundations
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data lookups, joins, and validation within integrations
  • Familiarity with Ruby or Python for custom scripting within Workato formulas or SDK
  • Understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and SaaS API paradigms
  • Experience with Git-based version control for recipe export and change tracking
